It seems the inclusion of UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva‘s rematch with Chael Sonnen was a little too much for the PPV portion of UFC 148 to handle. Based on the amount of additional time required for a second title-fight on top of the bantamweight contest featuring Dominick Cruz-Urijah Faber, a bout between 185ers Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch has apparently been removed from the July 7 lineup.
The card will still feature Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin 3 and Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le.
MMAJunkie, the first outlet to report the removal, also added UFC 149 on July 21 seems to be a likely choice in terms of where the match-up will take place.
Bisping (22-4) is looking to rebound from a close decision loss at the hands of Sonnen earlier this year, while Boetsch (15-4) scored the biggest win of his career by knocking out Yushin Okami in Japan this past February.

Middleweight Yushin Okami return to the Octagon on August 11 in hopes of snapping a two-fight losing streak by taking out Luiz Cane at UFC 150. Okami strung together a trio of wins in 2010 to earn a title-shot but was stopped with strikes by Anderson Silva, following the loss up with a TKO defeat to Tim Boetsch in a bout at UFC 144 he’d been dominating prior to the fight-ending sequence.
The match-up, as well as another pairing destined for the Denver card between Dennis Hallman-Thiago Tavares, has been confirmed by the UFC.
A Closer Look at Okami’s Loss to Boetsch
Okami holds an overall record of 26-7 with wins over Alan Belcher, Nate Marquardt, and Mark Munoz. Comparably, Cane is 12-4 with knockouts of Eliot Marshall, Jason Lambert, and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. However, he has also endured his share of losing as of late, dropping three of his last four fights with the defeats all involving a TKO finish.

Only one event this year was not represented in the countdown, UFC on Fuel TV 1. The other six events of 2012 were represented, with UFC 144 being represented the most with three knockouts.

After stopping Yushin Okami for his third straight win as a middleweight, Tim Boetsch thinks he’ll have to score one more victory before getting a crack at UFC champion Anderson Silva.

TOKYO - There was something obviously different about Yushin Okami the moment he walked into Wednesday's UFC 144 pre-event
press conference in Tokyo.
From the ever-present smile on his face to the boxing-heavy workout
session (complete with Anderson Silva-esque arm-hanging and slick
shoulder rolls), Okami was in a completely different zone.
And it's not just for show, Okami said. Following his UFC 134 loss to
middleweight champ Silva, "Thunder" believes he's a completely new man.

The last time MMA fans saw Anderson Silva inside the Octagon he defeated Yushin Okami by TKO in the second round of UFC 134’s main event. Following that event Silva admitted that he had suffered a shoulder injury while training for that fight. That injury had kept Silva from training since the conclusion of that fight on August 27, 2011.
Silva recently began training again, but it looks as if he has suffered another injury. According to the UFC Middleweight champion, “I’m not sure
Anderson Silva has been out of action since last August when he dominated Yushin Okami at UFC 134. The UFC middleweight champ has been dealing with a shoulder injury that has kept him on the sidelines and out of the Octagon. Earlier this month we heard from his physiotherapist who said that Silva was doing well, was 100% and would be returning to fight very soon.
Now, via SporTV, comes word from Anderson himself that he isn't quite healthy yet (translation by Tom Mendes):
I'm not sure when I'll be back, I got an injury in my shoulder and another injury that just happened in my lumbar, so I'm treating myself.
This is very Silva-like behavior. He likes to talk and it always seems like his status is fluctuating one direction or the other due to injury, management issues or whatever.
It is very difficult as an MMA fan to see Silva and Georges St. Pierre out for extended amounts of time as both men are likely at the end years of their peak as athletes.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was revealed as the cover athlete for THQ's UFC Undisputed 3 at the second day of the UFC Fan Expo in Houston, Texas. Silva won the honor in a fan vote, beating out fellow champions Frankie Edgar, Georges St. Pierre, Jon Jones, and Cain Velasquez.
"This is, for me, a big dream," Silva said. "I'm so happy."
Silva is the most dominant fighter in the history of the UFC. He is undefeated in fourteen fights, and he holds UFC records for most consecutive victories, most wins in title belts, and most consecutive title defenses. He avenged his most recent loss -- a first-round disqualification against Yushin Okami in January of 2006 -- at UFC 134, knocking Okami out just past the two-minute mark of round two.
UFC Undisputed 3 is expected to be released on January 3, 2012. The third installment of THQ's series features "Pride Mode" allowing users to fight under Pride rules and in the Pride ring, an updated submission system, and fighter entrances.
Yes, we would all like to see Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva in the wake of their respective blowout victories over Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Yushin Okami, respectively. But "Bones" still has business to take care of in the light heavyweight division. MMAmania.com Founder Thomas Myers breaks down his future match-up options at 205-pounds right here.
Anderson Silva was the big winner of the night and also on the leaderboards. In addition to taking the all-time lead in knockdowns, Silva extended his lead in Significant Striking Accuracy. Silva landed 43 of 61 significant strike attempts against Yushin Okami, good for a 70% accuracy rate. That brings his UFC career total to 68.5%, which is #1 by a large margin.
Anderson Silva can thank Yushin Okami for getting up after the first knockdown in their fight at UFC 134. With the first KD, Silva tied Chuck Liddell for the top spot in all-time knockdowns. With the second one, he now has the top spot all to himself.
