It's time for you to enter The Ultimate ONE FC T-Shirt Design Contest

36 days, 4 hours, 42 minutes and 39 seconds left until ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors goes down in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 23rd at Stadium Negara. By the time you read this, that countdown number won't be accurate. It's not my fault, blame it on time. It never stops moving, just like the blinking cursor you're probably looking at on your computer. MiddleEasy also never stops moving with our buds at ONE FC, and in their upcoming event, 'ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors,' we're raising the bar once again with The Ultimate T-Shirt Design Contest. Contest Rules: Create your very own t-shirt incorporating ONE FC and their theme of 'Destiny of Warriors.' Creatively, the contest is pretty open so there are as little restrictions as possible. Refrain from using nudity, brash political statements or racist innuendo (in other words, don't be an [expletive]). Stay away from using copyrighted material in your design (don't put a Burger King logo on your ONE FC shirt). Be sure to create your design in the highest quality possible (don't start your t-shirt on a dinky 300x500 pixel canvas). It's hard to give specifics on the required dimensions since every design will be different, but the best thing to do is dig in your friend's tool box and grab a ruler, take out that shirt you spilled beer on last night, measure how big you would like your design to be, and just create a new file size in Photoshop, Illustrator, Gimp -- whatever program you illegally downloaded off the net (you pirate). Simple as that. Be sure your design is created in 300 DPI and is in CMYK colors. A winner will be selected based on sheer jaw-dropping rawesomeness. ONE FC will then work with the winner to get their t-shirt design slapped on a shirt and winners will receive two shirts with their unique design along with a ONE FC prize package. Five runner-ups will receive a ONE FC prize package. You will also forever be mentioned on MiddleEasy as 'That guy who designed that amazing shirt'. Submission Rules: Submit your ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors shirt design as just a jpeg/gif not measuring more than 620px wide. If it's a winner, we'll ask for the actual production files. Feel free to place whatever watermark you would like on your design if think someone out there is going to steal it and build their entire clothing company around your t-shirt concept. All designs must be submitted to ONEFC@middleeasy.com. Utilities: Don't worry, we got you. The ONE FC logo can be downloaded right here. Deadline: Contest ends June 21st 2012. Winners will be announced on June 23rd 2012. If you have a question or concerns, contact ONEFC@middleeasy.com.

The Walkout - By Chael Sonnen

I’m being squeezed and forced down a dark, pulsating tunnel of living flesh. I’ve been ripped from a place of comfort and quiet solitude, a haven where I floated, with time suspended, for ages. The convulsive, relentless actions of a power I cannot control force me further and further toward my future, toward my fate. I feel crushed, malformed. My eyes are slits. I can see vague shapes, and discern dark from light, but barely, and only with effort. My ears feel clogged. I can hear, but like my vision, my sense of hearing is corrupted, semi-formatted, incomplete. I can feel, and at the same time I am numb. The forces that control my progress cannot be resisted or bargained with. There is no reason, no sense of humanity or concern, just that inexorable force pushing me ever onward.I am wet, slick, greasy. I see light and hear voices. Hands grasp for me. I am grabbed, and thrust into the grasp of the unknown. A sharp slap brings me fully into existence. I open my mouth to scream. …Birth? Death? My Ring-walk?All of the above. You’re never ready. You prepare. You train. You plan, plot, scheme, connive, accommodate, gather intelligence, float falsehoods to throw your opponent off the trail and identify moles in your own camp, encourage and nurture unholy alliances, sweet-talk sponsors, infuriate your family and friends, grind yourself into a fine powder day in and day out, then reconstitute yourself in the morning with water and hope, like instant mashed potatoes served in the soup kitchen of your mind. You tell yourself you’re ready.Your cornermen scream it in your ears as you hit mitts backstage.Your friends and family tell you you’re ready, cell phones, granola bars, and energy drinks clutched in their hands. They are confident, but if you look closely, the hands holding those objects are trembling, ever so slightly. You know you’ve done the work, but it’s not the Angel of Knowledge you need right now; it’s another, much more elusive angel in the canon whose intercession you urgently need. The angel we call Belief. You’re never ready. But, eventually, inevitably, immutably, you’re …Next. When Burt Watson, the captain general at UFC events, calls your name, you take that walk, ready or not. And as you do, as you take that walk and hear that crowd and listen to the familiar strains of your walkout song, as you and your cohort, wearing sponsor’s T-shirts and hats, heads to the ring, you silently pray that the Angel of Belief will alight on your shoulder, smiling sweetly, chubby and rosy-cheeked, like Cecco, Caravaggio’s model and muse, eyes alight with the wonder of possibility, full of secret and divine knowledge, shamelessly nude, like in the masterpiece Love Conquers All.You wait, and watch, and listen for the Angel of Belief as you walk through a crowd of screaming strangers toward your fate. And in a movie, if this were a movie, that angel appears, parting the beams of the seizure-inducing strobe lights as they flash in time to the walkout music you hate, but are stuck with because your sports psychologist believes in routine, even in a sport that lives and dies by improvisation and adjustment. And sometimes the Angel of Belief appears. But sometimes the angel …Doesn’t.But you still have to fight. The cage door is closed behind you whether you, your cornermen, your family, your fans, or your angels are ready or not.So here we go. Down to the Octagon. It’s like looking through two paper-towel tubes, a kind of tunnel vision. Whatever is on the periphery disappears. Things in the center of your vision are in clear, sharp focus. You hear the referee ask you about your mouthpiece and groin protection. You grimace like a chimpanzee warning away potential rivals for a mate, and knock on your crotch like a traveling salesman behind on his monthly quota.Your cornermen pull off your shirt, which inevitably gets stuck halfway off your head, and you clumsily struggle with it in your MMA gloves, your hands wrapped too tightly or too loosely, or both, or neither. You absent-mindedly wonder why no sponsor has come out with a shirt that has snaps up the front, like a hospital orderly’s shirt, instead of the same horrid, rock-concert-quality shirts with the tiny neck hole and single-stitch sweatshop construction (that is, of course, everybody else’s sponsor shirts; my sponsor’s shirts are of the highest quality, are made for years of comfortable, reliable wear, and can be treated as objects of heirloom-quality pride and value).OK, shirt’s off. The officials point me to the stairs, like they’re afraid I’ll make a wrong turn, walk into the crowd, and start pounding a fat guy from Orlando here in Vegas on a UFC vay-kay. I’m usually pretty good about knowing where to go once I’m almost completely naked, covered in sweat and grease, in a room full of people chanting my name—and I also know where to go when I’m fighting. So off I go, ready to stand, by myself, rather awkwardly, listening to someone else’s walkout song, shifting impatiently from one foot to the other like an old gambler at the dog track with a hot tip, in a long line with a slow cashier a minute before the bell rings and the mutts start chasing the electric rabbit. Here he comes. I watch, impassively, as he makes his way through the same fleshy tunnel full of grasping hands and blinding lights that I just negotiated. I begin manning the garrison in my own mind; the creaking, leaky fortress where I attempt to safeguard my confidence, where I try to immunize my insecurity by locking it in the deepest recesses of the stockade that is my inner psyche. But the troops I have left to defend the fortress are the least reliable; they are the last line of defense, once the best and brightest of my mental war-party, but they have been decimated by my training camp, previous fights, self-doubt, want, misery, pain, and regret. I survey this ragtag force; their armor is rusty, their weapons are worn and dull. Some have no weapons at all; just a steely-eyed stare, a mute, desperate resolve to serve, even if the campaign is doomed. Among them I see rheumy eyes, missing teeth, scarred visages, missing limbs. But still they stay and man their posts. I gather them together one last time. I attempt to give them my “Crispin’s day” speech about how lesser armies have conquered more powerful foes, about how courage and faith can carry this day.But damn that guy looks big.And damn he’s got a helluva walkout song. And damn do I wish this were over. And it will be … but not for a while.Published with permission from Victory Belt Publishing. UFC on FOX 3 headliner Jim Miller using walkout shirt to benefit nephew's foundation

NEW YORK CITY - Jim Miller will carry a heavy heart into Saturday's UFC on FOX 3 headliner with fellow lightweight Nate Diaz. But it'll be covered on his way to the cage with a TapouT walkout shirt he hopes will raise some serious funds for his nephew's foundation. Tri-Coasta fires back at the Korean Zombie

A few days ago we noticed a battle brewing between Chang Sung Jung and the makers of his popular Korean Zombie t-shirts, Tri-Coasta. Team KZ says they're owed over 20k. Tri-Coasta admits they stopped paying him near the end of 2011 after he breached the terms of their agreement. Here's Tri-Coasta owner Michelle Lee: We repeatedly expressed our concern that he was doing nothing to keep his end of the contract. After numerous months of requesting photo shoots, social media mentions and just some form as recognition as a sponsor, we could no longer continue to pay a fighter who refused to acknowledge his sole apparel sponsor....While Chan Sung did wear the Korean Zombie shirt for the first few weeks and a few times after that, the majority of the agreement was not fulfilled by him.  Here are just a few of his contractual obligations that were not fulfilled and breaches of the agreement: -Only a few months into the sponsorship, Chan Sung breached our contract by working for Kimurawear. The agreement clearly states that he will not endorse any other competing brand’s products. -We provided him with shirts to sell for his own gain – at no profit to us. When asked if the shirts were sold, we were told he didn’t have them anymore – but were not sold. -We asked Chan Sung for pictures wearing our products, interviews with media and social media interaction with his fans. Our requests were ignored; even when we offered to arrange photo shoots for him. Over the course of the contract, we received a total of three pictures, downloaded from the internet at low resolution and taken during his WEC days and prior. Most people love the shirt and think it’s a gold mine. In fact, sales of the shirts on the Tri-Coasta website weren’t ever enough to pay his salary. His greatest shirt sales came during the first year of his WEC career in which Tri-Coasta was owned by someone else. His salary, while undeserved, was paid and well over 10 times the amount of his royalties due. But, due to the breach in contract, Tri-Coasta ceased payments and does not owe the fighter further compensation. So if his salary was paid plus "well over 10 times the amount" he's owed in royalties, why is Chan Sung Jung upset? As usual, the he said / she said isn't doing much to establish who the true jerks are in this story. And where's the fun if we don't have someone to scapegoat and blame?

Your MMA clothing collection is not complete without Sexyama's $616 shirt

This article should be prefaced with a giant 'BEEP'. Most of you won't understand that reference, so instead, I'll just say that all of you kids out there should aspire to be Sexyama when you grow up. If you don't start when you're young, you'll grow up to be a guy locked inside a cubicle for 33% of the day and will never be able to leisurely foil a restaurant robbery. When your name begins with 'Sex', you're almost guaranteed a blitzkrieg of drunken phone calls on a Friday night. If Sexyama was a Hot Pocket, he would be stuffed with a blend of frozen hotness that can only be fully realized when placed in the microwave for two minutes. Now Sexyama's 'Team Cloud' dojo has collaborated with Japanese retailer 'Pleasure Dome' to offer you a shirt that runs at 47,300 yen or $616 (depending on the strength of the Yen/US Dollar). I'm not sure if Japan realizes that you can get 'pleasure dome' near the New Jersey turnpike for relatively cheap -- but it must be something different over there. Check out the crystal-studded shirt below and if you feel like dropping a copious amount of loot on it, please feel free. Props to Matt R. for the find. [Source]

The Diaz brothers explain the science behind flipping off Cerrone's cowboy hat

I'll be making the short trip to Las Vegas in a few hours for the UFC 141, and any reasonable person would be asleep by now. However, I simply can't get over the fact that Nick Diaz rocked a green MiddleEasy shirt this evening and took a picture of it. To everyone out there, don't be scared to visit WorldOverEasy and buy the shirt, homie. It's an expense that you can easily justify. Wearing a green MiddleEasy shirt will also enable you to break down exactly why Cowboy Cerrone's hat needed to be flipped off at the UFC 141 pre-fight press conference weigh-ins yesterday. It all makes sense, in a 209 type of way. Check out this video the UFC just released moments ago with Nick and Nate Diaz talking about the incident from yesterday along with a little impromptu shadow boxing from Nate Diaz. [Source]

Leonard Garcia says Girl St. Pierre is scared of heights (Video)

"The first time I met Georges, we went on a run in the mountains and Georges is afraid of heights. Nobody knows this, but he's like a girl when it comes to heights. Part of the run takes us on the edge of the mountain where you can safely run but right off the edge is a drop. He's behind me running and he's calling my name and he was like 'Hey man, can I grab the back of your shirt while we run?' I was like, 'What, why?' He was trying to tell me, 'The height!' It's a funny story, he was holding on to the back of my shirt while we were running and he's like, "Don't tell nobody about this,' and here I am doing an interview about it." UFC featherweight "Bad Boy," Leonard Garcia, dishes dirt on Georges St. Pierre, who is apparently so afraid of heights, he can't run an elevated path without grabbing on to the sweaty shirt of the guy in front of him. "Rush" won't have to worry about stretching his legs anytime soon following knee surgery that will keep him benched until the end of 2012. Anyone else reading his account in a French-Canadian accent? I'm scayured of dee height.

The Last Second MMA Christmas Shopping Guide

Hey, friends and family of Fightlinker readers. I know how this kind of thing works. You don't normally come onto this site, but you're at a loss for what to get the special MMA fan in your life. So you've gone through their browser history in the hopes that it will inspire some sort of gift ideas. The transvestite pornography site you found in there didn't help, and now you're here. Well, I can help solve your Christmas present conundrums. Here's a few gift ideas for the fight-centric people in your life: The UFC Ultimate Fight Collection 2011: Typically your average electronics box store only has crappy single UFC events or generic knockout compilation DVDs for sale, but this year the geniuses at Zuffa finally gave MMA fans something to get excited about: a collection of all the best fights from the past year. This is a no-brainer gift for anyone who loves MMA or sorta likes MMA and needs to be brainwashed Clockwork Orange style to hit that next level. At 100 bucks it's a bit pricey but considering it's 40 hours of entertainment on 20 shiny discs, it's almost too cheap to pass up. Tapped Out: Matthew Polly's latest book. The majority of MMA books out there were written by hacks, but Polly's is an exception. Documenting Polly's transformation from a hard drinking fast food eating old guy into a hard drinking fast food eating amateur MMA fighter, it's a hilarious tome that explores the world of combat sports from Russia to Thailand to Las Vegas. Team it up with his first book American Shaolin for even more reading enjoyment. An All Elbows shirt: The MMA world is awash in douchbag clothing, which sucks because it makes the laziest Christmas present - a t-shirt - much more difficult to fall back on. But if you want to get your special friend a quality shirt that doesn't look like it was puked on by a wizard, there's no better choice than an All Elbows shirt. Scramble Stuff: For the jiu jitsu freak in your life. May I recommend the Scramble Essentials shirt or the sick 'Headgi' hat? Throw in a sticker or three and you'll be getting hugs so tight they'll feel like an arm triangle. MMAliens: Much better than those Round 5 figurines which look like Downs Syndrome versions of the fighters they represent. A bit pricier, but the person who receives them can honestly say "They're collectables, not a toy!" Oldschool MMA posters: Nothing says 'Cool Grandparents' like giving your grandchild a PRIDE OWGP 2006 poster. After the jump, some presents for the women in your life! read more

Bloody Elbow Interview: Miguel Torres Talks Carlson Gracie and Being WEC Champion

Following his win over Nick Pace, I wanted to speak with Miguel Torres. He was one of my favorite fighters in the WEC and just has one of those personalities that I feel is one of the realest in MMA. Some people think his tweets (@migueltorresMMA) are full of schtick but he's just that guy that speaks his mind about things that bother him. We spoke on Monday about a bunch of topics but the most interesting to me was his memories of Carlson Gracie and how becoming the WEC bantamweight champion was a surreal experience and forced him to learn about the fight business on the fly. Miguel just launched a new website where he'll be posting nutrition and technique videos. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - You started training your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Carlson Gracie and you were one of the last fighters to train under him. What was Carlson like as a person? Miguel Torres - Carlson as a person was just one of those guys where whenever he was with me, I could never lose. There was an aura and a spirit about him that where ever he went, he'd brighten everybody's day. After the gym we'd go eat, we'd go to Chipotle and then we'd go to Starbucks. Where ever we'd go, from the people who worked in the back to the people that cleaned to the people that just met him on the street, there was just an aura about him that would brighten everyone's day up. As an instructor he taught a lot of the basics but they worked. He was one of those guys that was extremely agressive and was always looking for the kill. It went well with my style. He's one of those guys that helped put me on the map. Not just in the mid-West but world wide. I'll never forget him and I love him. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Are there any stories that stick out in your mind of great moments with Carlson? Miguel Torres - Oh 100%. We'd always drive to tournaments in Ohio. So it's me and him going to Ohio and it's about a four and a half hour drive from where I'm from in Indiana. I'd have to pick him up in Chicago which is about 30 minutes from my house. So we're in the car for about six hours and Carlos had a sweet tooth so he'd have to get a cola and some chocolate at every other rest stop. He always had a fanny pack. It wasn't a small kind of fanny pack. He had CDs, he had money, he had money from all over the world. He had business cards. He had everything in there so we go on this trip and I'm wearing my Torres shirt and we get there and we're gonna meet Ralph and all of his other guys for the tournament and as he gets out of the car, Carlos goes into his fanny pack and pulls out a shirt. And he goes "here, put this shirt on". He pulls this shirt out and it was a two X shirt and I wear a small. So he throws it to me and I can't tell him no, I gotta put it on. But the shirt fit me so big and I was like "dude, it don't fit." So he looks in his bag and he had two more shirts but they were double Xs. Mind you it's a fanny pack, not a book bag or luggage. I don't know how he fit it in there. I ended up wearing the shirt looking like a five year old kid wearing a double x shirt. He was introducing me as "Miguel Torres, he's my Mexican wrestler and no one's gonna defeat him." And everyone is looking going "dude, what are you wearing?" The shirt that he gave me was a new shirt that he'd made. It was a Carlson Gracie shirt. It had two roosters on the front. But the roosters looked like rubber chickens. That was the image on the front of the shirt. That was the shirt that I had to wear for the whole day. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Alright, so you really became a star in the WEC when you became the face of the bantamweight division when you defended your belt against Maeda. From a fighter perspective, what's that like having a promotion throw all their marketing behind you? Miguel Torres - It's a lot of responsibility. It was a lot for me to handle because I went from being relatively unknown or known in Indiana and Chicago to being known around the world. I was getting letters sent from all over the world. It was a lot because I didn't realize that the interview I was doing with the WEC was getting put out all over the world. I went from being known in my own town to being watched by millions. It was a lot to handle. Then the PR and the sponsorship side of it, it was a learning experience. It got to show me how the other side of the business works and that I got to be the face of the bantamweight division. I can't wait till the day I can get back to that level. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Is that a trip for you sometimes? You go from the regional scene to the Zuffa marketing machine. Is that a trip where it's hard to balance training and your family responsibilities with the responsibilities Zuffa expects of you? Miguel Torres - Oh 100%. Especially in the beginning. I'd say "yes" to everything. I wouldn't say "no" to anything. Whatever the asked me to do interview-wise or do a PR trip, I would do it for them. It was right after the Mizugaki fight, I went to my after party and I want to say that my trip to Mexico was at six in the morning that I had to be at the airport. So I left my after party at 3:30, didn't get to see my daughter, didn't get to see my parents. I got in the car and drove to the airport to go to Mexico for five days to do a bunch of PR stuff. Mind you, I felt beaten to sh*t. My hands, my shoulders, my arms, my body, my face, my legs...everything was hurt. I get in a plane and get to Mexico. I get back from Mexico and go right to the UFC. There was a time for two and a half years that I went to almost every UFC and WEC. It's a trip. You go from watching the events at your house with your friends and your family to actually being at the events and having you sit in the front row with Dana White or sitting next to whoever. So it's surreal. I went from watching them on tv to watching them live sitting next to Randy Couture and hanging out with Chuck Liddell. It's a whole different scene. It's like a dream that came true. For me it was a lot to handle. Going into the Brian Bowles fight I did so much PR and traveling that I think I trained at home in my gym for like two and a half or three weeks. Everything else was done on the fly while I traveled. For me, I didn't know how to say know. I didn't know how to handle it. I'm glad everything happened the way it did and it taught me a very valuable lesson. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - During that run you were considered a top 5 pound for pound fighter. Is there any pressure added when fans and media hold you in such high regard? Miguel Torres - There's always pressure when they hold you in that kind of a regard. But for me, I never really thought of that. Even from a local perspective, one day you're the best guy in the world and everybody's hero. Then you have a bad day and everyone is calling you garbage and you're watched up. So that was the thing going on in my hometown. I got to see how things worked out on a smaller scale so when I got in the WEC, I knew that was going to happen eventually because you can't make everybody happy all the time. People are very fickle because they don't understand the sport. They're there for their entertainment. They want to see guys get knocked out. Whoever knocks out the other person is going to be everyone's hero. I know that people are like that. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - So for the Nick Pace fight, you expanded the camp to not just TriStar but also down in Boca Raton, Florida to train with the Blackzilians and the Imperial guys. How did the training in Boca Raton differ from the looks you get in Montreal at TriStar? Miguel Torres - It was different just because Van Arsdale and Tyrone Spong, those guys are very aggressive and very straight forward. We did a lot of drills and the wrestling is American style wrestling. The style up in Canada is a Russian style of wrestling so it's totally different. I just felt like the beat my ass in Boca Raton which is awesome. In Montreal we do a lot of hard training but it's a lot safer. It's a lot more drilling orientated to get a skill reaction. I like both because I come from a harder form of training and it reminded me of the old days at my gym. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Alright, so the fight with Nick Pace, it started with some controversy with him failing to make weight. You were pretty outspoken about it on twitter afterwards because he was unprofessional in failing to make weight. Did that add any fuel to the proverbial fire to really go out there and make an example out of him? Miguel Torres - The big thing that it did to me was that it made me a little upset. I felt like I wasn't being respected as a fighter because he didn't try and make the weight. Being six pounds off the mark is huge. I got very upset. I'm very outspoken and I'm always going to tell you how I feel. I'm not gonna hide anything and that just really upset me. We were in the back and he tried to apologize to me and I didn't even want to shake his hand. He could apologize but he couldn't make the weight. If you were two pounds over or a pound over okay, I can see that you got fatigued or dehydrated but everybody cuts a lot of weight and at this level you have to make weight and he didn't even try which upset me. I don't want to say that it added fuel to the fight because I'm already very aggressive and go out there to fight hard but it added a little to just beat him up. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Your performance in that fight, what do you take away from the differences between that fight and the Banuelos fight and Demetrious Johnson fight? Miguel Torres - The big thing is that I stuck with my footwork and used my range. I was throwing and landing more right hands. I was using my wrestling more. When I got taken down in the second round I got back up to my feet. I'm not trying to play guard anymore. I think the fight went very well. I hope that I get to keep expanding on those skills. When I fought Demetrious Johnson, I thought I could beat him in jiu jitsu. Even though I thought I did enough, the judges didn't appreciate that style of fight so from now on I'm gonna stop takedowns and if I'm get taken down I'm gonna get back up. Just put pressure on guys and punch them in the face. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - You've made a lot of sacrifices in your life, including living at your gym. Looking back, do you think that was the right decision not just in your career but in your personal life as well? Miguel Torres - With your personal life, you always look back and think I could have done this better or different. I missed my family. I missed my daughter. I spent a lot of time away from home but the big thing from me is that I don't regret the opportunity that I have. A lot of people wish they could do what I do and wish they could be in my shoe. I can't waste the opportunity for my family, my friends, and my students. Every fight that I have, it's for them. When I do well, they do well. When I lose, they lose. So if I have to sacrifice time away from my family to make everyone happy and do well, I'm gonna do that. I know at the end of my run I'm gonna look back and I'm not gonna have any regrets. I know my daughter's future is gonna be secure and taken care of. Matthew Roth (BloodyElbow.com) - Alright, so for you, everything you're doing right now is for your daughter? Miguel Torres - 100%. Before when I didn't have her, it was about me and making sure that I was doing well. I would have my mom and my dad out but it was mainly for myself. Once I had her that all changed. It put the responsibility on my shoulders and the guy I'm gonna fight is trying to take money out of her college fund or food out of her mouth.

This Week in Moore's Law: Under Armour Develops a 'Smart Shirt' That Measures Vital Signs

Several months back I wrote about an interesting new technology for boxing that would allow gloves to be implanted with smart strips containing an algorithm to more accurately tally punches in conjunction with a smart vest that would communicate with these receivers. If you didn't read it, it's probably because of run on sentences like the above, but nevermind my discontent. Under Armor, the same company UFC WW champ Georges St. Pierre has advertised himself for, recently partnered with Zephyr Technology to create something very similar: a smart shirt called the E39, which contains a "bug" holding 2GB's of storage that measures acceleration and change of direction. However, it doesn't stop there. While the video detailing what the E39 does is vague, and light on details, it's worth transcribing: Heart rate, breathing rate, skin surface temperature, and accelerometry in three different directions....a trainer can actually look at these g'force's and say 'hey yea, you're moving the right way, you're moving exactly the way you moved last week. I think it's really cool to say, 'we can measure your potential. We can show you where you could be'...they'll be able to track it. Their trainers will be able to track it. Even recruiters and colleges will be able to track it. People will be able to communicate to each other, and compare it to each other, and have a new world around social interaction around their athletic performance. No word on whether or not it can measure sodium content in an athlete's sweat the way yet another type of 'smart vest' has been able to do. But we're seeing a wealth of new technologies primed to have a veritable impact on sports in the near future. Performance can now literally be measured, and I don't mean "literally" in the way Joe Rogan means that Cain Velasquez "literally has no weaknesses". No, I mean 'literally'. Ever the luddite, I'm not sure I like the idea of recruiters taking the reductionist route, and measuring performance according to raw data. If raw data were truly meaningful in the context of athletic performance, the Wonderlic scores might actually be worth a damn (Alex Smith and Matt Leinart, I'm looking at you).   But alas, Moore's law continues chugging along. Shirts aren't the only thing getting "smart": so is paint (a technology relying on protocells: if you want an idea of what protocells are, think back to this scene, and no that's not a joke). It's also a sign of ubiquitous computing and the concept of 'everyware'. If our shirts are becoming iPads, how much longer until the octagon floor protests "I'm afraid I can't do that"?

Warning! Wearing the wrong MMA shirt could get you shanked (In Guam)

MMA attire went Bloods vs Crips, Oakland Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers style this weekend over in Guam and before all of you MMA elitests go there, no-it was not a Tapout vs Affliction war. That fight goes down every weekend on the Jersey Shore with some random sucker punch style shots from the Ed Hardy wearing crew. Acoording to a report from the Guampdn.com , there's a guy in Guam named Dana Lance Leon and it seems that when he is sitting in a cafe eating a nice meal he doesn't want to see any competing MMA gym t-shirts coming up in his spot. Leon is ride or die about his MMA alliance, so much so that when another MMA shirt gets all up in his business there's nothing else to do but threaten the opposing shirt wearer with some thug style steak knife skull shanking.  "Dana Lance Leon, 35, was charged with assault as a misdemeanor. At approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, Leon was sitting at Linda's Cafe in Tamuning wearing a T-shirt supporting a mixed martial arts alliance. A second man entered the restaurant wearing a T-shirt supporting a different mixed martial arts alliance, according to the declaration. After entering, the second man began talking to Leon, who "had no interest in talking with the man and thought the topic had become invasive, especially given their different martial arts allegiances." Leon allegedly stood up, and grabbed a seven-inch steak knife from the table. He allegedly held it over the second man's head in a stabbing position. Two off-duty police officers heard the commotion and subdued Leon" Maybe Gus Johnson is reading this news right now, shaking his head and saying, 'Sometimes these things happen with MMA T-shirts.' Maybe Leon is from Oakland and that's just how he rolls. Maybe this whole unfortunate incident could have been avoided had the guy coming into Leon's spot just been wearing a happier MMA shirt. A green one-with a big red monster on it that supports the Genki Sudo philosophy of 'We are all One.' We don't know but we do know is you can help support peaceful MMA shirt relations by getting a green shirt with a big mean cuddly red monster on it at WorldOverEasy.com today. Not only will you be doing a good deed the MMA community, but chicks really dig them too. [source]

Further proof the Green MiddleEasy shirt will enhance your MMA game

Imagine if the Fertita brothers invested in American Gladiators instead of UFC. We would be heralding 'Nitro' as the greatest of all time and Wesley "Two Scoops" Berry would be the equivalent of Royce Gracie. Our lives would be hopelessly intertwined by the notion that The Gauntlet is the only true way to evaluate one's athletic prowess; but look on the bright side, we still would be able to see Gina Carano compete. Not much of that has to do with the Green MiddleEasy shirt, but neither does this picture of a Silver Surfer collectible card. It's on MiddleEasy because it's rawesome, and occasionally that's the only prerequisite required to be placed on the site. Sort of like this standing guillotine suplex finish performed by Morgan Bracken in Topeka, Kansas this past weekend. Morgan entered the arena rocking a Green MiddleEasy shirt while his opponent had Eminem blaring in the background. We all know about the Eminem curse, but leave it to the esoteric powers of the Green MiddleEasy shirt to give Morgan that extra amount of rawesome needed to finish his opponent in stunning fashion. Check it out below and if you want to rock the green, just click here.
