Ronda Rousey: “Since becoming a sex symbol, I haven’t had less sex in my life.”

It’s not often a fighter is asked to discuss his or her personal life. However, in the case of UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, there has been an overwhelming amount of attention paid to what goes on in her world outside of the ring. Rousey has stoked the flames a number of times too, posing in the nude for ESPN Magazine and discussing her preference to have as much sex as possible leading up to a fight based on the way it affects the female body. Ironically, Rousey recently admitted her bed hasn’t been so empty as it is now since the spotlight started shining on her so brightly, also adding that the amount of time she puts in at the gym has limited her opportunities to meet men outside of it… “Since becoming a sex symbol, I haven’t had less sex in my life.” “It’s really funny, actually. I either get men coming up to me like, “Oh, my God, baby, I love you!” or else they’re too shy to approach me. Can I get just a little in between?” “Hell no, I ain’t gonna hook up with no fighter. I know these guys. They’re like a sewing circle and everyone tells everyone everything.” SOURCE: Esquire Magazine PHOTO CREDIT: ESPN The post Ronda Rousey: “Since becoming a sex symbol, I haven’t had less sex in my life.” appeared first on Fighters.com.

Cain Velasquez: “There’s something missing in my life.”

Leading up to his November 2011 title-defense against Junior dos Santos, then-champion Cain Velasquez was seen as an unbeatable force thanks to his undefeated status, overwhelming talent, and first-frame finishes against the likes of Brock Lesnar and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. However, in the end it was Dos Santos who walked away with the UFC belt after flattening Velasquez less than a minute into the main event match-up. Velasquez got back on track by pasting Antonio Silva in May and earned his shot at redemption, facing “Cigano” a second time when the two tussle on Saturday night in headlining action at UFC 155. The 30-year old Velasquez is hungry to hoist heavyweight gold above his head once again and is prepared to do whatever is necessary to obtain it. “There’s something missing in my life. I got myself into this sport to be the best and I’m not there right now. And there’s one guy that I have to go through to be that,” explained Velasquez on the Countdown to UFC 155 special. While the 10-1 Velasquez is only willing to predict his exact manner of victory, he made it clear he’s prepared to pound JDS out or take him out while standing if need be. “You can expect for him to stand up again and then we’ve got a fight on our feet so we’ve gotta be ready to fight everywhere,” said Velasquez of the upcoming tilt. Dos Santos has not been stopped since being submitted in his lone loss more than five years ago. Since then he has won ten straight scraps, providing a monumental challenge for Velasquez when things go down this weekend. Renan Barao wants to wait for Dominick Cruz but open to fighting anyone

Like many of his fellow Brazilian fighters, newly crowned UFC champion Renan Barao battled a good deal of adversity while growing up in relative poverty. However, rather than be brought down by the glumness of his conditions, Barao used the situation as fuel for the competitive fire burning inside his gut and ultimately fulfilled a lifelong dream last night at UFC 149 by taking home the division’s interim title. The 25-year old bantamweight spoke some about his win moments after outpointing Urijah Faber where his genuine excitement beamed through. “It’s a dream come true. This is the happiest moment of my life,” said the smiling Barao. “I knew I won the fight because of the way I fought but there were all kinds of thoughts running through my head when they were reading the decision.” Barao Talks Long But Rewarding Road to UFC 149 Main Event The 29-1 Barao also stated he has his sights set on unifying the belt with injured linear champion Dominick Cruz, though he isn’t planning to sit by and twiddle his thumbs as others in his position have done before. “I want to fight the best and I think Dominick Cruz is the best,” explained Barao. “(But) if they want me to fight someone else while he heals up, I can fight no problem.” Watch the interview with Barao below: PHOTO CREDIT – UFC Tweet

Rashad Evans: “Fighting is not just about fighting – it’s about life.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans has dealt with plenty of adversity throughout his career. Often criticized for his antics inside and outside of the cage, Evans understands exactly with friend and occasional training partner Muhammed Lawal is going through at the moment after being released by Strikeforce on top of a nine-month suspension for steroid use. “I think that everything happens for a reason. I’ve been in a situation where I had to ride out a dark cloud a little bit in my career. I think Mo’s just going to have to ride the dark cloud in his career. I went about a 14-month period of not having a fight and just riding out some of the waves in my life, and that happens,” explained Evans in an interview with MMAFighting. “Fighting is not just about fighting — it’s about life,” the 32-year old continued. “Sometimes you have those ups and downs in life, just like in your career. But as long as you keep your mind right and on what you really want, and you stay hungry, then you’ll prevail and make it through the storm.” Evans will certainly be pulling for Lawal will come out on top in the end, growing from the experience rather than letting it diminish his drive. “I feel bad for him. He’s a champion at heart, and I’m sure he’ll find a way to make it back to (Strikeforce) or find a way to make it in another organization as a top guy,” concluded Evans on the topic. Lawal will be out until September based on his suspension though it is unknown when he will actually fight again after losing 30 pounds due to a serious staph infection that could’ve been fatal.
