Texas-based promotion Legacy Fighting Championship announced Tuesday that Jesus Rivera will be unable to compete in his May 11 headliner against Jorge Patino at LFC 11 due to injury.
Jorge Santiago opens up about what went wrong during his two fights in the UFC, and how he's turned a corner as he heads into his next fight to kick off 2012.

According to UFC.com, Jorge Lopez has Thiago Alves' head structure -- but without any identifying facial features. It appears that Jorge Lopez has a black hole originating from his nose, which sucks in all available light. Judging by his composite picture for ZUFFA, if you were to meet Jorge Lopez in the middle of a dark alley -- he would be invisible. Perhaps that's why he was signed to the UFC. Dana White always said he wanted someone with superhuman powers to fight in the octagon. Hopefully Jorge Lopez will use his special invisibility powers for good, because quite frankly the world is already filled with a potpourri of supervillains. We'll see some of this talent on display when Lopez takes on Matt Riddle at UFC 143. Jorge admits you probably don't know who he is, but you definitely will after February 4th.
Jorge Rivera has been around, man. You can ask anyone on the street who Lee Murray's sole UFC victory is over and their instant reply will be Jorge Rivera. Through a multitude of entertaining runs in the UFC and elsewhere, The Conquistador has entertained us with 14+ awesome knockouts, the Quarry fight, the unforgettable mocking of Bisping, TUF 4 and other moments that I can't recall. Jorge has been a great entertainer to us, the guy has done everything. He even fought Anderson.
Last night, after his TKO victory over Eric Schafer, Jorge decided to call it a career. We here at MiddleEasy want to thank you, Jorge. You've always been incredibly cool to us and you even gave us one of the best answers we've ever had in an interview:
Yes, I believe that time travel is possible. I believe that mathematics can give you the answers to everything.
On that note we shall post this gif of your final victory forever in your honor, like an eternal flame or something.

Nick Denis KO's Joseph Sandoval with standing elbows in 22 seconds. It was quick, it was nasty and it was one hell of an impressive debut for "The Ninja Of Love". What a phenomenal performance by Denis as he was working the left right combo very effectively, grabbed the clinch and started putting them elbows to Sandoval's dome.
Daniel Pineda decided he didn't want to stay in the cage for long either as he quickly got the takedown on Pat Schilling, moved directly to mount and secured a submission victory by rear naked choke @ 1:37 of the first round. Pineda opened up Schilling with strikes and then took his back. Schilling got back to his feet but Pineda held on, drug him down and got the tap. Another impressive performance to kick start this card.
Fabricio Camoes kept the first round stoppage train rolling with a rear naked choke victory over Tommy Hayden. This was a very competitive fight for the first couple minutes but the tide turned for Fabricio when he landed a massive hammerfist. From there Camoes took the back and sunk in a deep RNC and initiated the tap from a fully stretched out Tommy Hayden. Hopefully Hayden gets another shot in the UFC because he showed some good potential.
Charlie Brenneman Charlie Brenneman'd Daniel Roberts. Daniel Roberts should be gone after this one. After the fight, Brenneman acknowledged that he needs to take the next step and start finishing if he wants to advance his career. It is nice to hear that kind of self awareness from him and hopefully he can follow through on that.
Khabib NurmagomenovKamal got flattened by a huge left hand in the first round and spent the next couple minutes scrambling to get his wits about him but he managed to survive. Khabib cllearly dominated the second round. Kamal asked his corner TWICE in between the second and third round which round it was going to be. He really got his bell rung in that first round. Kamal really had nothing to offer Khabib here. Khabib got a takedown in the third, took Kamal's back and tied a bow on this fight with a rear naked choke submission victory. Kamal really had nothing for Khabib here. He got outstruck and outwrestled by a wide margin. Another great UFC debut on this fight card. Joe Silva, you are my hero.
Jorge Rivera announced that tonight will be his final fight. Win or lose. The first round did not go well for Jorge as Eric had him on his back for the majority of the round but in the 2nd round Eric got tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired and Jorge made him pay by puttin his hands on him until the fight was stopped. Jorge "El Conquistador is hangin up his gloves and he has had a great career that he can be very proud of. All the best to you, sir. Thank you very much for all you gave to the sport.
What an awesome prelims show. Jon Anik is a damn professional and he did a hell of a job despite some visible early jitters. Kenny Florian was solid in the booth as well and they make quite the nice little team..
Stephan Bonnar and Jay Glazer were......bad.
Prelims on Fuel are excellent.
Jorge Rivera defeats Eric Schafer by TKO. The stoppage came at 1:31 in the second round.
The big news entering this fight was that no matter the outcome, Jorge Rivera had made up the decision to retire from MMA. The 11 year veteran had fought every top fighter in the division over the course of his career. The first round didn't start out well with Schafer scoring an early takedown and controlling Rivera on the ground. Rivera was able to sweep and do damage on top but the first round was clearly a win for Schafer.
The second round was vintage Rivera. After hitting a sweep and then stepping out of a takedown, he pummeled Schafer with punches. The referee gave Schafer multiple chances to improve his position or fight back but he was unable to stop the onslaught. Herb Dean was forced to step in and stop the fight.
Rivera gets to do what very few fighters get to do: retire on a win. He was emotional in his post fight interview.

Strikeforce Lightweight contender Jorge Masvidal, who came up short against Gilbert Melendez in last night's main event, discusses the defeat, as well as his quickest route back to a title shot. Masvidal says, though he may be bias towards himself, he felt the fight was closer than the judges scored it, and insists that Melendez never hurt or rattled him.
Video: Jorge Masvidal confident he is better than Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez everywhere, including in the wrestling department, and will prove it on Saturday night (Dec. 14, 2011) when they collide in the main event that will air on Showtime.

Jorge Santiago Released by the UFC
From Addicted MMA comes word that Jorge Santiago has been handed his walking papers by Zuffa. Not terribly unexpected, given that this was his second go-around in the UFC and this drops his record in said promotion to an abysmal 1-4 with three (T)KO losses. The glass-jawed slugger seems like a great target for Bellator to bring him in to face Hector Lombard, but I wouldn't be surprised if he returns to Sengoku and/or Dream if FEG ever gets around to paying its fighters and being a real company again.
Santiago Released.
Let me be the first to say if Jorge Santiago fought Misaki for the rest of his MMA career, I would be perfectly fine with it. We don't need belts, just headline the seventeen One FC cards with Misaki vs. Santiago. That's all I'm asking.
After grabbing his second L in the UFC in 2011, multiple sources are reporting that Jorge Santiago has been released from his UFC contract for the second time in his career. It's tough to find a reason why one of the top middleweights in MMA just can't grab a win in the UFC. You could say that Japanese MMA is just incapable of operating within the North American continent. It's a puzzling thing, really. In fact, it makes you wonder if American MMA will function in Japan for UFC's upcoming card in the Saitama Super Arena in 2012.
In honor of Jorge Santiago, it's only right that we post a highlight of one of the greatest fights of 2010. A fight that reportedly took Misaki on the brink of death. [Source]
Jorge Santiago has been released from the UFC roster. The Brazilian middleweight has gone 0-2 since he departed Japanese promotion Sengoku to join the UFC...
Middleweight Jorge Santiago has been released by the UFC after dropping a unanimous decision to Demian Maia earlier this month at UFC 136 for his second-straight loss, Tatame reports.
Santiago went just 1-2 in his first stint with the UFC that ended in 2006, but won 11 of his next 12 fights and claimed the Sengoku middleweight title to earn another shot inside the Octagon.
Santiago returned to the UFC against Brian Stann in May, but suffered a second-round TKO in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 130.

Before we published this article, if you googled the phrase: 'finds contentment in beating people up' you would get zero results. That's amazing. Apparently no one has ever been quoted or typed out that phrase in the history of the internet. We have Jorge Masvidal and his love of just plain beating folks up to thank for giving us our very own 'first' in google history. We owe it all to Jorge in his recent BleacherReport interview where he expresses just how much he enjoys repeatedly punching someone in the face and gut and what he hopes to do to Gilbert Melendez in December.
"Winning via submission was cool. Knockouts and submissions are cool. But my favourite way to beat somebody is to beat them up, like in my recent Evangelista and KJ Noons fight. Sometimes, it’s almost disappointing to finish a guy in the first round. I like to comprehensively beat somebody up in every area of the game. The guys who always stuck out to me were Pernell Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather. You can do whatever you want to those guys, but you just aren’t going to win. Like against me, throw, kick, but you just aren’t going to get the better of me."
"Stoppages are cool, but most of the time, I’m just content to beat somebody up. And in fact, my favourite type of KO is via a body blow, because your opponent makes a conscious decision to end the fight. When you knock somebody unconscious, they are left with no choice in the matter."
"I’m gonna smash Gilbert, get a nice paycheck and then onto the next one"
Jorge Masvidal finds pleasure in slowly beating an opponent into submission. Intriguingly sadistic. If the banner picture above this article is the facial expression Jorge makes while he feels content in pummeling his opponent into surrender, I'd be frightened to see him when he is angry. His face might contort into something that looks like Pennywise and there is nothing scarier on this planet than creepy clown faces. [source]
MMAWeekly Radio Wednesday is loaded with UFC lightweight Anthony Pettis, Strikeforce's No. 1 155-pound challenger Jorge Masvidal, and "Wonderboy" Stephen Thompson.
After being away from action since June 2010, featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos will return to the Strikeforce cage on December 17 to defend her title against Hiroko Yamanaka. The match-up was announced during the Strikeforce Challengers 19 broadcast and ends a period of limbo due to the Brazilian’s contractual status.
Santos’ reputation as the most ferocious female in MMA is well-earned after finding success in ten straight including eight strike-based stoppages. She has finished all four opponents she’s faced in Strikeforce including victories over Marloes Coenen, Gina Carano, and most recently Jan Finney.
Stylistically, Yamanaka creates an interesting match-up given her ability on the ground. A 12-1 grappler out of Japan, the 32-year old Yamanaka is currently on an eight-fight winning streak.
Also on the card a lightweight title bout between champion Gilbert Melendez, coming off an impressive showing against Tatsuya Kawajiri, and number one contender Jorge Masvidal, who earned his title shot after defeating K.J. Noons last June.
