UFC 146's Dos Santos vs. Mir main event gets veteran ref Herb Dean
Veteran referee Herb Dean will oversee the UFC 146 main event between
Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir. Adelaide Byrd, Glenn Trowbridge and
Tony Weeks will judge the contest.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today issued the assignments at its
monthly meeting in Las Vegas, which MMAjunkie.com attended.
The NSAC made the decisions based on recommendations suggested by
executive director Keith Kizer. The pool of available officials also
included Yves Lavigne, Steve Mazzagatti and Josh Rosenthal. Additional
available judges included Patricia Morse Jarman, Junichiro Kamijo,
Lester Griffin and Dave Hagen.

Brandon Saling's appeal unsuccessful, license revocation stands in Ohio, NJ
In a 3-0 vote, the Ohio Athletic Commission today denied Brandon Saling's appeal of a license revocation that was handed down this past month after it was discovered he lied about his criminal background.
Saling, who recently competed for Strikeforce, told MMAjunkie.com that he accepts the ruling but will seek fights in states that will license him.
"It's fair," Saling said. "I falsified my application."

NSAC suspends Strikeforce's 'King Mo' Lawal nine months, victory overturned
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today voted unanimously to suspend and fine former Strikeforce champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal for a failed drug test following his appearance at "Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine."
Lawal was suspended nine months from the date of the fight, fined 30 percent of an $80,000 "show" purse, and he must surrender his $15,000 win bonus.
Additionally, his win has been changed to a no-contest, and he must provide a clean drug test when he reapplies for a fight license in Nevada.

NSAC temporarily suspends UFC's Nick Diaz, disciplinary hearing upcoming
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today voted to formalize a temporary suspension issued to Nick Diaz in the wake of his positive drug test for marijuana.
A formal disciplinary hearing is now expected at a date to be determined.
Now-UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit outpointed Diaz at UFC 143 on Feb. 4 in Las Vegas. Diaz's post-fight drug test then revealed the presence of marijuana metabolites.

K.J. Noons not (yet) medically cleared to fight at 'Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey'
Lightweight K.J. Noons has yet to submit a medical clearance that will enable him to fight Josh Thomson at "Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey."
Until he does, Noons remains on a national database of fighters under medical suspension, a rep from the California State Athletic Commission today told MMAjunkie.com.
"Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey" takes place March 3 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

NSAC welcomes public suggestions for regulation changes at Feb. 22 meeting
In a few weeks, the Nevada State Athletic Commission is opening the floor to ideas on how to better regulate MMA.
The commission today gave notice of a workshop designed to "to solicit
comments from interested persons on any matter related to contests or
exhibitions of unarmed combat, or any other matter within the
jurisdiction of the NSAC."
"Which is pretty much a glorified public comment session, where anyone
and everyone who wants to put ideas out there for the commission to
consider, we definitely welcome that," NSAC executive director Keith
Kizer today told MMAjunkie.com.

TUF 14 Finale medical suspensions: Miller possibly out six months with broken nose
Punches both invited and uninvited took a toll on "The Ultimate Fighter
14" coach Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and he could be suspended for up to six
months unless cleared by a doctor.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today released a list of medical
suspensions following The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale.
In the event's headliner, Miller may have suffered a fractured nose
before was stopped in the third round of the five-round non-title fight
by opposing "TUF 14" coach Michael Bisping, who walked away with a light
suspension.
