Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez doesn’t plan on making losing a normal happening for himself inside the Octagon. Three additional bouts were added to the UFC on Fuel TV 4 event this summer. Featuring a main event of Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman, the card is now starting to take shape. In what promises to be an exciting show from the HP Pavilion in San Joe, CA, the previously announced Light Heavyweight scrap of Brandon Vera versus James Te Huna will serve as the co-main event, with three bouts just added. Two Bantamweight fights were announced, with TUF veteran T.J. Dillashaw will face Vaughan Lee, while Raphael
After a ton of publicity, hype, controversy, and of course schedule changes, UFC 146 will finally coming at us in two weeks on May 26. The Las Vegas event is monumental in the fact that i will be the first all-Heavyweight main card. The card will no doubt change the landscape of the UFC's Heavyweight division, in a sense separating the top contenders from the mid-level combatants. At the forefront is the much-hyped main event title bout featuring Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir. The co-main event also
UFC President Dana White saw enough from Johny Hendricks Saturday night at UFC on FOX 3 to proclaim the former Oklahoma State University wrestler a legitimate contender in the welterweight division. Hendricks secured a decision victory over Josh Koscheck in the co-main event from East Rutherford, New Jersey, pushing his record s to 13-1.
The accomplished wrestler is just the second fighter to hold wins over both Koscheck and Jon Fitch, two former title-contenders. The other man to do so is current UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre.
“Josh Koscheck, because he gets booed, may not get the respect that he deserves, but he’s a great fighter and has been for a long time and Johny Hendricks won (Saturday),” said White during the show’s post-fight press conference. “Whether you agree with the decision or not, cause some people think that Koscheck won or it should’ve been a Draw, it was that close. I think a fight with Hendricks vs. GSP is pretty interesting.”
The 28-year-old Hendricks has rebounded from a loss to Rick Story to earn his spot among the elite in the division. While a title-shot may still be a ways off, Hendricks is right there at the top in terms of potential options.
St-Pierre and interim champ Carlos Condit are scheduled to meet later this year when St-Pierre returns from knee surgery, while Jake Ellenberger-Martin Kampmann are fighting in June to determine the man who will face the winner of GSP-Condit.

Did you miss the debut of the Invicta Fighting Championships promotion this past weekend?
Well you're in luck, because the all-female fight league is putting its fights up for free on its YouTube channel. They've started with the main event between Marloes Coenen and Romy Ruyssen and are currently working their way down the fight card.
If things keep up, that means the barnburner of a bout between Kaitlin Young and Leslie Smith which won "Fight of the Night" will be next in line. In the meantime, enjoy the top three bouts from the evening and keep your fingers crossed that there are more to come.
After the jump, we've got the first three big fights from the evening, with the standout being the co-main event between atomweights (105 pounds) Jessica Penne and Lisa Ellis, which featured a very fun technical scrap that got violent in a hurry.

Just when you thought the UFC 146 card was finally finished, two more switches have been put into place. Roy Nelson, who thought he was set to fight Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in his UFC debut, found himself facing Gabriel Gonzaga after Silva was thrust into the co-main event versus Cain Velasquez. However, Gonzaga was injured and in steps Dave “Pee Wee” Herman to take his place. The UFC 146 mass Heavyweight shift was put into place by the massively publicized failed drug test
Josh Koscheck is set to take on Johny Hendricks in an intriguing welterweight contest in the co-main event of the May 5 UFC on FOX 3 card. The UFC held a press conference earlier today in Brazil to announce that the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen would be moved from UFC 147 in Brazil to UFC 148 in Las Vegas on July 7th. That's obviously a huge bout, but where does it leave the expected main event, the third bout between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber for the UFC bantamweight title?
Demoted, that's where.
According to UFC officials, Cruz vs. Faber will now serve as the co-main event of the evening. The two men are currently coaching The Ultimate Fighter Live and were expected to carry one of the biggest cards of the year. Instead, that duty will fall on the UFC middleweight title bout instead.
This will be the first card since UFC 136 to have two title bouts. There will also be a fan expo in Las Vegas for the event over the weekend.

With Frank Mir moving out of his top contenders fight against Cain Velasquez and into a title shot against Junior dos Santos at UFC 146, Velasquez now faces Antonio Silva in the co-main event.
All of the changes in fights for the upcoming UFC 146 card in May has resulted in a new opponent for Cain Velasquez. UFC president Dana White confirmed via Twitter on Sunday that Velasquez, a former UFC heavyweight champion, will meet Antonio Silva in the co-main event of the all-heavyweight card on May 26 from [...]
Cain Velasquez was set to face Frank Mir in the co-main event of UFC 146 prior to Alistair Overeem screwing everything up with his testing positive for elevated testosterone. With Frank Mir called up into the main event against Junior dos Santos, Velasquez was left without an opponent.
After some rumors and trolling (that included Roy Nelson saying he was going to fight Cain for the number one contender spot) Dana White now confirmed that Cain will be fighting Antonio Silva:
@danawhiteDana White Don't believe any of the BS you read on the internet. Cain is fighting Bigfoot Silva May 26th in Vegas Apr 22 via web Favorite Retweet Reply
Silva getting the call-up now leaves Roy Nelson without an opponent for the card. It's possible that Travis Browne may be given the big opportunity after wrecking Chad Griggs quickly at UFC 145, but that's just me spitballing possible replacement opponents.
I'm sure the UFC plans on trying to leave the main card as five heavyweight fights as it was a neat "gimmick" for the show.

Todd Harris and Kenny Florian break down the heavyweight main event and co-main event for UFC 146, and take a look at who really is the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts.
UFC Tonight airs every Tuesday at 10pm ET/7pm PT on FUEL TV.
When Rory MacDonald received word he'd be facing British striker Che Mills at UFC 145, what did he do?
Did he react with joy that he'd be the co-main event under one of the biggest headlining fights of the year? Maybe he immediately begin gameplanning for Mills' strengths and weaknesses? Perhaps he was glad to be back in action after being sidelined before UFC 140 with a knee injury.
It turns out he did none of those things.
"I looked him up on the Internet to see what he looked like," MacDonald confessed. And he probably isn't alone.
By most accounts, the Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills bout as a co-main event for UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans is a curious bit of matchmaking. It's true Mills is coming off a devastating stoppage of Chris Cope at UFC 138 and even earned Knockout of the Night honors for the crushing win.
It's also true, however, MacDonald enters this bout having won his last two fights in a row against much more marquee names in the welterweight division: a decision win over Nate Diaz (now a lightweight) at UFC 129 and a first-round TKO stoppage of Mike Pyle at UFC 133. It would seem if anyone were ready and deserving of a jump in ranked competition, it'd be MacDonald.
And maybe he is. Maybe MacDonald knows he was supposed to be getting more out of his next fight. But he also knows in the UFC, big wins can get you big opportunities. Mills had a sensational win in his last bout and MacDonald will be the first to tell you as much.
"He had a good performance in his last fight, so I think UFC is very performance based," MacDonald told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. "Joe Silva thought it was a good match-up."
The Montreal-resident believes letting his mind wander to what could or should be instead of what is can also be a recipe for disaster at this level of the game. "If a fighter's in the UFC, I have all the respect in the world for them," MacDonald argued. "You can't take anyone lightly in this sport."
"I didn't see his fight in UFC," he continued. "I told a lot of people this. I don't really do research and watch video on the guys I fight. I kind of leave that to my coaches and just focus on my own training. But I did see a little bit. He's obviously a very talented striker and a good mixed martial artist."
The bout with Mills may be odd to some, but getting an opponent who is appropriate in the UFC is often a function of availability. MacDonald was originally scheduled to face Brian Ebersole at UFC 140, but was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. More importantly, MacDonald took the time he needed to heal properly and avoid surgery. That meant a layoff longer than he would've liked.
"I basically had this issue with my hip and my quad at first during sprinting," the Tri-Star Gym welterweight said. "It moved down into my knee and the back of my leg and then my meniscus. It was like a whole string of things. The whole chain kind of went."
"I tried to heal it, but I wouldn't have had any time to train for the fight. Luckily I avoided surgery because I took care of it. I figured it was the best thing. Just take a little time to myself to heal it properly and avoid surgery. Because I had to have surgery on my other knee the year before and I didn't want to have to go through that again."
MacDonald admits to feeling like the made the right decision about his health, but is somewhat glum about where the upcoming fight with Mills will take place.
UFC 145 was originally scheduled to be held at the Bell Centre in Montreal on March 24. But the UFC was never able to secure a suitable main event for the premium market, so the card was pushed back to late April and moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
"It was a bit disappointing not being able to fight in Montreal. I wanted to show the fans here who I was," MacDonald admitted. "I really have no problem traveling to Atlanta or anything like that, but it would've been nice to stay in Canada."
Despite the changes and oddities of it all, MacDonald is taking the UFC 145 process in stride. He's in the co-main event for the time in his career - "I've never been a co-main event, so I'm excited for that" - and ultimately doesn't view it as his personal responsibility to determine who he fights. He's got other priorities to worry about.
"I don't really get disappointed because my job is to look good and to fight good and put on a good show. This sport is so performance based and it's meant for entertainment," MacDonald observed. "It's my management and my coaches', and the UFC's job to pick who I fight. I don't worry about that part of it. All I worry about is training hard, getting better, and fighting at my best."
MacDonald will have to defeat Mills at UFC 145 to get where he wants to go and be where he feels he rightfully belongs. Even then, he'll have to see what the UFC has in store for him. Nothing is ever certain in this sport and now more than ever MacDonald knows it. But sooner or later, the 22-year old rising MMA star believes no matter who he fights or where the bout takes place, he'll be on everyone's radar. MacDonald is determined to leave an impression.
"I feel like I'm the best in the world," MacDonald said without hesitation. "You're going to have no choice but to rank me at the top very soon."
It's been seven fights and four years since Dan Hardy fought on the preliminary card of a UFC event. He was the co-main event in his second appearance.
This time out, a lot of seats will be empty when he fights on the prelims portion of UFC 146. But that's a welcome change.
"There is a little less attention on me, so I can focus a little better," Hardy told MMAjunkie.com Radio of his fight with Duane "Bang" Ludwig. "It was kind of a real quick rise up to the main card, but I'm the warm-up act on this one."
Tomorrow night's Bellator 61 competitors gathered today at the Horseshoe Riverdome in Bossier City, Louisiana for the event's official fighter weigh-ins. Headlining the stacked card will be the final Middleweight quarterfinal bout of the evening, which pits promotional newcomer Maiquel Falcao against Norman Paraisy, while Wand Fight Team product Vitor Vianna returns against Brian Rogers in the co-main event. Also featured will be "The Arm Collector" Giva Santana taking on unbeaten Brazilian Bruno Santos,
UFC President Dana White, alongside the majority of the event's main card fighters, were in New York today to attend a special UFC on Fox 3 Pre-Fight Press Conference. Set to take place May 5th from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the stacked card will be headlined by a Lightweight showdown between top contenders Nate Diaz and Jim Miller, while former Welterweight title challenger Josh Koscheck goes head to head with Johny Hendricks in the co-main event. Also featured will be Middleweight
Tim Boetsch's stunning third-round comeback victory over Yushin Okami last night was not the greatest comeback in UFC history. Frankie Edgar over Gray Maynard (II or III) or Frank Shamrock hammerfisting a kneeling Tito Ortiz en route to a TKO stoppage also stand out as a class above what happened at UFC 144.
There was also much to like in Mark Hunt's win over Cheick Kongo. But it wasn't entirely surprisingly nor does it move him realistically close to title opportunities.
What is true, though, is that both are accomplishing something very legitimate late in their careers. Both desperately wish to compete while they still can. Both are turning in performances that exemplify the athletic courage fight promoters crave.
Recognizing they still have limitations, both deserve to be rewarded by the UFC with big, winnable fights.
More Coverage: UFC 144 Results | UFC News
I'm not suggesting we pretend they are something they are not. Hunt is closer to 40 years of age than he is 30. Boetsch showed clear defensive weaknesses against Okami in the first two rounds of their fight. The success of Boetsch and Hunt is more about making us reconsider what they have left, not proving they are something we never properly recognized.
Yet, neither deserves to be cynically dismissed. It would be promotional malpractice to place either in a predicament where they were at the bad end of a stylistic disadvantage. It would equally be a disservice to have them face the division's cream of the crop (Boetsch should get close, however).
Whatever the UFC chooses for Hunt and Boetsch, their next fight should satisfy three conditions. First, it should be a fight that's winnable even if they're the underdogs. Second, the fighters should be able to win without having to use skills they've never really possessed. Third, the fight should live at or near the top of whatever card it's on. Why pick these conditions? They make best use of the resources Hunt and Boetsch bring to a fight while being fair to their chances of success. They also won't necessarily wreck the division's order should the unpredictable happen.
For Boetsch, he should be given a marquee fight against rising middleweight contender Chris Weidman. Weidman and Boestch are united by their toughness, talent and deserved reputations as risk takers. Weidman proved in his win over Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2 he might be ready for the best middleweight has to offer, but he's also young enough that a little more seasoning could only help him. For Boetsch, it's a chance to face a top-10 opponent who is a worthy adversary but won't be able to lord physical strength over him (unlike Phil Davis at light heavyweight).
Relative to Boetsch, Hunt's future should be closely guided by his ability to deliver exciting action without losing managed expectations about his upside. Pat Barry, Stefan Struve or Travis Browne are all excellent choices as potential opponents. Mark Russow, on the other hand, is not. Hunt is 37 and shoulders no great expectations. His best use on a card is where he can help himself while facing younger contenders willing to strike. Placing Hunt against a submission-savvy wrestler in his mid-thirtees is nothing short of criminal.
Where could these fights live? The options are plentiful. A Boetsch-Weidman bout could easily serve as the co-main event of a pay-per-view (even a stacked UFC 146 could be upgraded). If you scoff at that claim, consider UFC 145's Rashad Evans vs. Jon Jones is preceded by Che Mills vs. Rory MacDonald. Hunt vs. any of the aforementioned strikers could be great as a headliner for UFC on Fuel or a co-main event for UFC on FX. Any of those potential bouts is fun enough to get good fight card placement at any type of UFC event, but there isn't great need for them to be on a card of major significance. The most important consideration is that whatever space these fights occupy, they deserve to be of a higher order of magnitude to the treatment Boetsch and Hunt are usually given.
When fighters are ignored, dismissed and nearly beaten and manage to persevere, that's a special moment in fight sport. That's especially true in a night where we saw a listless Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson improperly prepared and psychologically distracted. His seeming ambivalence stands in sharp contrast to the delightfully surprising career turnarounds of Boetsch and Hunt. As athletes in their thirties, time is not on their side, but our good will should be. We can honor their achievements, treat them fairly with careful but fair matchmaking and reward the fans without one ideal compromising the other.
Boetsch and Hunt proved they were right to not give up on themselves. By hook or by crook, they brought their careers to back to life. Let's be fair to their revivals by giving them a chance to breathe.

After years away from the Far East the UFC will return to Japan later in the month with UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson. The card takes place February 25 (February 26 in Japan) from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama.
In the main event, Frankie Edgar will defend his UFC lightweight title against #1 contender and former WEC champion Ben Henderson. Edgar is coming off a thrilling victory over Gray Maynard, while “Smooth” earned his title shot by defeating Jim Miller.
“I will not let Ben Henderson take my belt,” said Edgar in an extended preview for the show.
Meanwhile, the co-main event boasts former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson returning to Japan where he first rose to fame in MMA to rumble with Ryan Bader.
“Beating ‘Rampage’ would solidify my career,”explained Bader int he same preview. “It would put me up there with the upper-echelon fighters.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson got a chance to regain his title at UFC 135, but was submitted in the fourth round by reigning champ Jon Jones. In this month's issue of Fighters Only magazine, Rampage discussed the fight and stated that he would have actually considered retiring if he had won the fight (transcribed by BJPenn.com):
"Believe me I still want to retire as champion. I want to hold the belt once more. I guess if I had won that Jon Jones fight and if the Japan show wasn't next then there'd have been a very good chance I would have retired already. It would have been a great time to bow out. But I almost certainly would have stayed around to fight in Japan anyway, to defend the belt. Then if I would have successfully defended it on this [UFC 144] show, I definitely would be retiring - and retiring a very happy man too!"
It's a moot point now, but the statement is interesting. Would he have really gone through with that? I tend to think he wouldn't. In addition to that, it's unlikely that the UFC would have had Rampage defend the light heavyweight title on the Japan show anyway. Back in the real world, Rampage is set to face Ryan Bader at UFC 144 in the co-main event. How many more times are we going to see Jackson in the octagon? It seems the the clock is winding down on his career.

Ouch.
Roy Nelson was bleeding like a stuck pig in his heavyweight fight against Fabricio Werdum last Saturday night (Feb. 4, 2012) in the co-main event of UFC 143: "Diac vs. Condit" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not hard to see why.
Nelson was battered across three rounds by the much larger "Vai Cavalo," eating several knees in the clinch and taking an inordinate amount of abuse en route to a unanimous decision loss.
"Big Country" summarizes:
"Here is the cut from me head butting Werdum's knee in the 1st. My face is fine, forehead is a little sore.gym monday, pissed and it's not the happy Roy, stitches total I want to say about 16-20 two cuts. As [an] entertainer I always must put on show to give it drama and suspense, and maybe a little horror (blood)."
The defeat to Werdum drops Nelson to 2-3 over his last five and 16-7 overall. Catch a complete recap of their fight plus all the action from UFC 143 right here.
UFC 143 delivered an exciting night of action tonight from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. "The Natural Born Killer" Carlos Condit captured the Interim Welterweight title, defeating former Strikeforce kingpin Nick Diaz via unanimous decision in the headlining bout. Top Heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum made his octagon return, outworking Roy Nelson in the co-main event, while Josh Koscheck edged out Mike Pierce to pick up his first victory of 2012. The UFC 143: "Diaz vs. Condit" weigh-in event took place today (Fri., Feb. 3, 2012) in Las Vegas and that means staredowns with all the major players.
That includes the two headliners for tomorrow night's event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit. For those hoping for some fireworks, sorry, nothing to see here. Diaz kept it professional, as did the always dapper "Natural Born Killer."
Heavyweights Roy Nelson and Fabricio Werdum will hook 'em up in the co-main event of the evening while welterweight bad boy Josh Koscheck makes his return to battle Mike Pierce. See them all stare at each other after the jump.

Saturday night, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, two Welterweights known for rarely taking a step backwards, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit, will collide in the UFC 143 headlining bout. Also featured will be TUF 10 winner Roy Nelson taking on Fabricio Werdum in the co-main event and former 170-pound title challenger Josh Koscheck meets Mike Pierce.
Roy Nelson brings more to the table than one crazy beard and mullet combo and wants to prove it in the co-main event of UFC 143 against Fabricio Werdum.
Roy Nelson and steroids aren't something you usually read about in the same sentence. Unlike Alistair Overeem or Junior dos Santos , Nelson doesn't exactly come across as a body builder. But he knows that he has fought guys that have were on PED's before, and he knows that they're prevalent in the sport. He spoke to MMA Fighting about the subject, and doesn't seem too concerned about it:
"If I can compete with them, and they’re using, it just means I’m a better athlete," Nelson said. "That’s all it means to me."
Nelson also states that he's actually had fighters admit to using before he competed against them:
"You just know," he said. "You know by straight-out asking them. You can do it that way. Or you can go through their coaches or training partners. It’s a very small world."
...
"There’s some verbal combat involved," he explained. "You have to trick them into coming clean, but it does happen."
Apparently Roy isn't competing against MENSA members. While it looks obvious to all the world that Roy isn't someone who uses PED's, he does mention that his body type actually leads him to getting tested more. Why? Because the people doing the testing want it to look effective:
"I’ve probably been tested for steroids probably more than any other fighter that’s ever fought," he said. "...It’s like a football program. There’s always going to be some guys where it’s like, yeah, you’re the one we’ve got to test, because then the program looks clean."
That is something I never even considered before he said it, and is quite a valid point. Big Country squares off with Fabricio Werdum this weekend in the co-main event of UFC 143.

So when the bout between Mark Munoz and Chael Sonnen was announced late in December of 2011 as a co-main event for UFC on Fox 2, we had sent our fight correspondent Marcos Villegas to gather video interviews and training footage from the Regin Training Center, the homebase of Mark Munoz. Chael Sonnen is a rip-off.
Not that we didn't know this already, of course, but tonight he took it to an entirely new level. After defeating Michael Bisping in the co-main event of the UFC on FOX 2: "Evans vs. Davis" fight card last night (Sat., Jan. 28, 2012) in Chicago, Ill., Sonnen cut yet another pro wrestling-style promo when interviewed by Joe Rogan.
In fact, it sounded oddly familiar to old school WWE fans. And that's because they heard it before.
For you newer fans of mixed martial arts (MMA) who keep hearing about how Sonnen rips off pro wrestling and think it's all a load of bull, allow me to present you with the most damning evidence possible.
Sonnen almost word-for-word ripped off a promo cut by the late, great "Superstar" Billy Graham. Watch Sonnen's version and then watch a real pro do his job after the jump.
First, Sonnen's rip-off that you saw last night:

The UFC will return to FOX on Saturday night wen they present UFC on FOX 2 from Chicago’s United Center and while the main event between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis has been highly anticipated, it seems the co-main event may be more anticipated.

Filed under: Strikeforce, NewsRumors of a bout between Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle have spread at various times over the last year. In fact, the duo seemed destined to meet in both April and September of 2011 before various issues sidetracked the pairing from being made.
Now, it's on again.
Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the Mousasi-Kyle matchup has been agreed to as the co-main event of March 3's Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event.
Mousasi (32-3-2) was last seen just over one month ago, showing improved takedown defense to go with his usual aggressive striking game en route to a unanimous decision over Ovince St. Preux.
Meanwhile, Kyle (19-8-1, 1 no contest) is coming off a unanimous decision victory of his own, this one coming against Marcos Rogerio de Lima in September.
The winner of the bout may eventually earn a chance to fight for the vacant Strikeforce light-heavyweight title.
Mousasi-Kyle is the co-headliner just underneath a women's bantamweight title bout with Miesha Tate against Ronda Rousey. As MMA Fighting reported earlier Monday, a lightweight fight between Conor Heun and Ryan Couture was just added to the event as well. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
Probably wasn't hard to see this one coming.
Following his submission loss to Vitor Belfort last Saturday night (Jan. 14, 2012) at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has officially released Anthony Johnson from his ZUFFA contract.
That's according to a report from ESPN correspondent Franklin McNeil.
Johnson failed to make weight for his UFC 142: "Aldo vs. Mendes" co-main event against "The Phenom," tipping the scale at a whopping 197-pounds, a full 11 pounds over the 186-pound contractual limit.
It was the third time "Rumble" missed weight in his UFC career. The first came against Rich Clementi at UFC 76 and then again opposite Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 104.
And as Dana White told FUEL TV, three strikes and you're out.
"Three strikes and you're out. This is his third time that he hasn't made weight. He's the co-main event in a huge fight down here in Brazil and this one was a bad one. Rumble Johnson did the damage to himself. To be that unprofessional and not come in on weight, and to be that far off when you used to fight at 170, now you went to 185 pounds so you wouldn't have trouble making weight, and this is your worst weight cut ever? That's at a detriment to himself."
Johnson claims he was on target for his middleweight debut, until his body betrayed him just hours before hitting the scale. On the advice of attending physicians, he rehydrated to preserve his health at the expense of making weight.
Belfort agreed to proceed as planned and gave Johnson a stipulation of making 205-pounds by fight night, for which he did. It kept the co-main event intact and allowed the Brazilian to get his revenge the good, old-fashioned way.
By winning.

The UFC staged their second show in Brazil in just five-months time tonight, delivering an exciting line-up from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Middleweight veteran Vitor Belfort picked up his second-consecutive victory, choking out Anthony Johnson in the co-main event, while Rousimar Palhares needed just 63 seconds to submit Mike

Anthony Johnson believes fans need to get ready for "something crazy" when he faces Vitor Belfort in the co-main event of UFC 142 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.
Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine offered an entertaining line-up last night from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The five-fight main card was capped off by a Middleweight title fight, which saw reigning Champion Luke Rockhold dispatch of UFC castaway Keith Jardine in the waning moments of the opening round. Also featured was former Light Heavyweight kingpin Muhammed Lawal, who knocked out previoiusly undefeated contender Lorenz Larkin in the co-main event, and veteran slugger...
LAS VEGAS - Adlan Amagov can officially pinch himself.
The 25-year-old is fighting in America, in the co-main event of a major promotion, against a guy he was just watching on TV.
"I'm very happy I'm actually fighting Robbie Lawler," Amagov told MMAjunkie.com. "I think that's a great opportunity for me, and I want to thank Strikeforce for this opportunity."
Dustin Poirier is probably getting a complex.
"The Diamond" (11-1) is going on his third opponent for the UFC 143: "Diaz vs. Condit" pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled to take place next month (Feb. 4, 2012) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Stepping in for an injured Erik Koch, who was stepping in for an injured Ricardo Lamas, is featherweight newcomer Max Holloway (4-0), who cut his teeth in the X-1 promotion down in Hawaii, according to a report from MMA Weekly.
Poirier recently scored a submission win over Pablo Garza via D'Arce choke at UFC on FOX to improve his record to 4-1 under the Zuffa banner and 11-1 overall.
Tough debut test for "Lil' Evil."
UFC 143 will be headlined by former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz battling ex-WEC 170-pound kingpin Carlos Condit for the right to wear the division's Interim strap with Georges St. Pierre on the sidelines recovering from knee surgery.
In the co-main event, former welterweight number one contender Josh Koscheck will try to keep his spot among the 170-pound elite by taking on the venerable Mike Pierce.

UFC veteran Nate Diaz proved he's one of the best Lightweights on the planet, after going to distance with Donald Cerrone in the co-main event of UFC 141 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Diaz looked at the peak of his MMA career, punishing Donald Cerrone throughout the fight with laser-sharp boxing combination. Despite not being at 100% of their power, Nate Diaz's punches put a crimson mask on Donald Cerrone face, as "The Cowboy" tried to find his way back into the fight. Cerrone responded with knees and leg kicks
With a little more than 48 hours remaining before Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem test the Octagon’s stability in their headlining clash at UFC 141, the two heavyweights, along with co-headliners Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone plus UFC President Dana White, got together on the stage in Las Vegas today to participate in a pre-fight press conference.

UFC President Dana White, alongside the majority of Friday's main card competitors, were in attendance today at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the UFC 141 Pre-Fight Press Conference. A colossal showdown between Heavyweight giants, Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, will headline the stacked card, while top Lightweights Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz will go head to head in the co-main event. Also featured will be perennial Welterweight contender Jon Fitch taking on rising prospect Johny
Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort will make history in 2012 when they coach opposite each other on the first international season of The Ultimate Fighter. The two coaches will meet after the season in a rematch, as Belfort won the first meeting by knockout.
Silva is coming off a convincing victory over Cung Le in his last Octagon debut, while Belfort will face Anthony Johnson in the co-main event of UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes from Brazil.
Reports of friction between “The Axe Murderer” and “The Phenom” appear to be over, according to a recent interview conducted by Sherdog’s website with Silva.
“No, times are different. I met him and apologized. Once in Las Vegas, I was disrespectful,” Silva said. “I went back to old times and talked some nonsense. Then I apologized and admitted I had done wrong. You have to be man enough to take responsibility. It’s alright now, and we’ll solve it the way we have to: by trading punches. I have the best job in the world. I can go in there, settle my differences the best way possible and still make some money.”
TUF: Brasil will run much like previous seasons of the reality show with competitors squaring off against one another to crown a champion. It is still being worked out for the season to be shown in the U.S., possibly on FUEL TV.

Former UFC Interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira went under the knife last Friday (Dec. 16, 2011) to repair the broken arm he suffered against Frank Mir in the co-main event of UFC 140: "Jones vs. Machida" back on Dec. 10 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
This is what it looks like seven days later, thanks to a timely run-in with UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, who tweeted this photo of "Minotauro" on Thursday night.
Nogueira, 35, recently returned to competition earlier this year after multiple surgeries to correct problems with his hip and knees and while he was only hit with a two-month medical suspension by the Ontario Athletics Commission, he likely won't see the inside of the Octagon for at least six months.
Perhaps more.

Everything about this poster is what is good in the universe. There's really nothing left to say. I never thought I would live to see the day when Minowaman is featured on the poster of an American based fight organization. The Mayan 2012 prophecy didn't take that away from me. Thank you celestial doom comet for not destroying the earth -- yet.
ProElite's third card in the newly rebooted promotion features Kendall Grove taking on the only man that can properly wear red Speedos without being made fun of, Minowaman. Hitomi Akano will also take on Olympian Sara McMann in the co-main event. Let's juts hope Akano's opponent makes weight this time, because what Cris Cyborg did to her during the weigh-ins of Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz was just wrong. Horribly wrong. A Heavyweight showdown pitting former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar against former Strikeforce Champion Alistair Overeem will headline the stacked UFC 141 fight card, set to take place Friday, December 30th from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also featured will be a Lightweight clash between Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz in the co-main event, and a Welterweight tilt between former title challenger Jon Fitch and Jonny Hendricks.
In a little over two weeks, one of the biggest heavyweight battles in MMA – literally – will take place when Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem collide in the main event of UFC 141.
The show is set for Friday, December 30 rather than on Saturday due to New Year’s Eve and will emanate from Las Vegas. Adding even more intrigue to the headliner, the winner will earn a title shot against UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos in 2012 after the affable Brazilian recovers from knee surgery.
“This is my home. The UFC is Brock Lesnar. I don’t care how many fights he’s had or where his career has been. This is my time. This is my house,” explained a motivated Lesnar in a recently released extended preview for the event.
Along with Lesnar-Overeem, fearless lightweights Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone will meet in the co-main event.

Silva-Le will serve as the co-main event to the PPV card, while Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson meet in the main event from San Jose, California with other match-ups including Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles and Rick Story vs. Martin Kampmann.

Middleweight "murderer" Wanderlei Silva trains his ass off for his co-main event against Cung Le at UFC 139: "Shogun vs. Henderson" from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 19, 2011.
Says Wandy:
"I think that for you to reach your potential, for you to be the best you can be, for you to excel in your career, you must surround yourself with good people, because in this world, it's much harder to succeed on your own. You should surround yourself with competent people who are willing to help you. Many people have to work on their own and succeed. But it will be much harder to do it than with good people who motivate you."
Silva has surrounded himself with the best possible people -- but will it make a difference on fight night?

UFC 138 delivered an action-packed line-up today from the LG Arena in Birmingham, England. "The Filipino Wrecking Machine " Mark Munoz bruised and battered Chris Leben in the headlining bout, picking up a second-round TKO victory via corner stoppage to extend his current winning streak to four. In the co-main event, top Bantamweight prospect Renan Barao solidified his place as a contender, knocking out Brad Pickett in the opening-round, while former Welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves scored his

Chief of International Development Marshall Zelaznik, alongside the majority of Saturday's main card competitors, gathered at the LG Arena in Birmingham, England for the UFC 138 Pre-Fight Press Conference. The fight-card will be headlined by a Middleweight showdown between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz, while top Bantamweight contenders Brad Pickett and Renan Barao will go head to head in the co-main event. Also featured will be a Welterweight clash pitting Thiago Alves against promotional newcomer...
UFC President Dana White, alongside the majority of Saturday's main card competitors, were in attendance today at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada for the UFC 137 Pre-Fight Press Conference. The stacked card will be headlined by a Welterweight showdown between top contenders Nick Diaz and B.J. Penn, while rising Heavyweight prospect Matt Mitrione takes on Cheick Kongo in the co-main event. Also featured will be the legendary veteran Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic going head to head with Roy...
After failing to appear for multiple media obligations ahead of UFC 137, Nick Diaz was stripped of his opportunity to challenge Georges St. Pierre for the Welterweight title and relocated to the co-main event opposite B.J. Penn. Though disappointed with the change in opponent, the move appeared to do little to sway "The Stockton Bad Boy," as he arrived 40+ minutes late to the event's scheduled Media Conference Call.
Thanks to multiple shakeups to the UFC 137 fight card, B.J. Penn, who was initially slated to square off against Carlos Condit in the co-main event of the evening, will now take on Nick Diaz in the headlining bout. And he's ready for it, as documented in the video above. Great quote from the vid:
"For some strange reason, I'm ready for this. A lot of other days, a lot of other times, a lot of other camps, I might be sick as a dog right now. You know what? I'm just too old. Too old to talk shit, too old to care. Oh, yeah, no, I care. (I'm) too old to care about what's going on (in the media), you know what I mean? I just want to get a couple wins, a couple big wins, maybe a title."
"The Prodigy" is still a monster ... and this monster lives. He's just too old to get into pissing matches anymore. Nothing wrong with that. To check out episode one of B.J. Penn's "Road to UFC 137" click here.
UFC President Dana White may be even more of an evil genius than you thought. Removing Nick Diaz from the main event of UFC 137 only to place him in the co-main event in a still high profile fight against B.J. Penn was a roll of the dice, no question. But you can't argue they came up snake eyes. Click here to find out the how and why.
George and Weezie aren't the only ones movin' on up.
Hard-hitting heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione have been promoted to the co-main event of UFC 137: "Penn vs. Diaz," now that welterweight fighters B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz are headlining the pay-per-view event on Oct. 29, 2011, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In case you haven't heard, or just refuse to accept it, Georges St. Pierre blew out his knee and was forced to withdraw from his "Sin City" title fight against Carlos Condit, who will take a seat and ride this thing out.
Those are some pretty big shoes to fill.
The last time Kongo was in action, he was involved in one of the craziest and most memorable comebacks in Octagon history at UFC on Versus 4. After getting repeatedly rocked by Pat Barry, the French sensation landed a big right hand that stunned "HD" and finished the job with a monster uppercut.
Now, once again, he's got a perfect style match-up that could lead to consecutive memorable performances.
Mitrione also competed the last time UFC invaded the Versus cable network channel and had his way with over-matched heavyweight brawler Christian Morecraft.
In fact, if not for the Kongo comeback, "Meathead" likely would have won himself "Knockout of the Night" honors for his walkaway kayo in the second round.
If he wants to settle that up with the Wolfslair kickboxer, now's his chance.
With Kongo vs. Mitrione moving up in the order, the empty pay-per-view slot will be filled by a middleweight mash-up between Brad Tavares and Dustin Jacoby.

Let me tell you a story about a guy that was promised a headline slot at UFC 137, but missed a few public appearances and was punished by being relegated to the co-main event. Now that same guy has been re-bumped to the main event as a reward from the universe for apparently making this incoherent video.
Roughly three hours ago, GSP tweeted a pic of himself training in a ring with the words 'Very focused right now' attached. Now literally minutes ago, Dana White announced that Georges St. Pierre is out of UFC 137 with a knee injury and Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn has been bumped up to headline the event, a fight that some already believed should be the headliner of the card.
Naturally, there's a lot of drama surrounding the news and as it breaks, we'll try to keep you updated. According to Sports Illustrated's Josh Gross, Malki Kawa stated Carlos Condit will no longer fight at UFC 137 due to GSP dropping out. Now the argument is some people believe Malki is talking his fighter out of the event because it's not a title shot and he doesn't want to risk Condit losing to another opponent. Dana White has stated that he will most likely shelf Condit until GSP gets healthier, which should be around three months. The main event between BJ Penn and Nick Diaz will be a three-round bout.
