The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that Brett Cooper's Battle Beard doesn't exist. After Cooper shaved his beard when he fought Shlemenko in Bellator, most of you still yearned for the follicle greatness of Cooper's beard, which appeared to be an unsanitary Ewok baby resting entirely on Brett's chin. Don't ask me why he shaved it. I don't have the answers you seek, although I was as disappointed as you. You could hide the meaning of life in that beard. Now that the reemergence of the Battle Beard has occurred, the world will rejoice by rioting in the streets and unnecessarily breaking into automobiles. To mark this occasion, Jason Manly from Gracie Fighter OC decided to grill Brett Cooper on a variety of topics that may (or may not) have an effect on your life. Brett Rogers has been sentenced to 60 days in jail for that little incident back in June where he ran his wife down outside the house and pounded her face in. In June, Rogers, of Apple Valley, Minn., south of Minneapolis, was seen by a neighbor punching his wife outside their home, according to a criminal complaint filed against him. Police later found her walking near their home with a bloody face, missing tooth and a broken jaw. The complaint also said the Rogers' children were scared to return home – and said Rogers had choked them in the past.Rogers pleaded guilty to third-degree assault with substantial bodily harm, a felony, and had two other felony charges dropped, as well as a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment. After Wednesday's sentencing, Rogers received credit for 26 days he has already served. The Pioneer-Press reported that Rogers will have to serve two-thirds of his sentence, meaning he will have 14 days left to serve, per the judge's orders.Rogers' defense attorney asked for the heavyweight's jail sentence to be postponed until after a planned Dec. 31 fight, allowing him to propertly train for the event. That request was denied, but the judge did say Rogers can travel for his job. According to records from the Dakota County Sheriff's Department, Rogers' anticipated release date is Dec. 13. Ah man, what is going on with the prison system nowadays. Not enough room to hang Lindsay Lohan on a wall in shackles and now Brett Rogers is doing 14 days for whupping his wife. It's almost enough to make you lose faith in the system. Fortunately, we are a vengeful and judgemental people and while the public court system has let him off fairly easy the court of public opinion will probably never forgive him. Brett has gone from being the Sam's Club tire changing feel good story of 2009 to an MMA pariah in 2011.

My old roommate, a guy that I have thrown in a bed of cacti on a number of occasions, didn't understand why Rogers received a title shot even though he came off a loss to Fedor. I tried explaining the entire Dutch bathroom incident of 2009, but he just didn't want to listen. It's the only way I can justify someone getting a title shot after being finished by a different opponent. If a Dutch toilet isn't involved, then someone getting a title bout after coming off a loss is nonsense. The last time Brett Rogers grabbed a win was in W-1 against Ruben 'Warpath' Villareal. You've heard of his name before. He's the last guy Bas Rutten defeated to end his career on a twenty-two-win streak. Ruben Villareal looks like a guy who would draw strange illustrations of people on his bookcover in high school. He's one of the very few people in MMA that insists on wearing something to cover up his torso when he fights. He also shaves the sides of his head which has to mean something in the Freudian-based society we live in. In the bout, Rogers managed to grab a unanimous decision over Warpath (even losing one round to the judges), but since then things really haven't gone The Grim's way. You've already heard about his domestic problems, so we're not going to bum you out on this fine Wednesday evening. Instead, we just want to inform you that Bret Rogers vs. Tim Sylvia is slated to go down in DREAM's New Year's Eve show. Although the fight hasn't been formerly announced by executives at DREAM, Heavy MMA's Matt Erickson has confirmed that Brett Rogers seeks to break his two-loss streak against Tim Sylvia, a guy currently riding on a two-win streak since he was TKOd by Abe Wagner in Titan FC 16 last January. Initially, it was rumored that Todd Duffee would be taking on Brett Rogers in a DREAM HW interim-title fight with the winner ultimately taking on Alistair Overeem, something that is now impossible with Overeem's newly signed UFC contract.
